When rays of light are broken
By shadows that I cast,
The ancient tongue I've spoken—
I know it will not last.
Towards the sun, I march in mist
Until there is no dawn.
Here, even sounds of birds have ceased
Above my wooden throne.
Between the trees, I find a key
That glitters in the mire.
What else is there, I cannot see -
I set the world on fire
And shiny gates of the netherworld
Appear in silver rain.
The thunders crack over dreamy woods -
Their echoes die in vain.
Forgotten shrines of eternal pride
Engulfed by somber grief.
Oh, starless night, what do you hide
In guise of your mischief?
The towers rise over barren land
Like mountains filled with pain,
And in this night, guided by your hand,
My spirit shall remain.
